In the early 1990s, after having worked in a legal office for brief time, Cone made the decision to partner with Karen Marshall to open the Cone Marshall law firm.  Cone discussed the impact that his law firm has had on the New Zealand economy and stated that he hoped that the future professionals would make great contributions to their home land.
